Sarala Accents specializes in handmade, personalized art. Handcrafted by Leela Boodoo, the brand places a spotlight on the art of paper quilling, blending simplicity with a profound love for nature. Emerging from a 43-year teaching career, Leela's retirement marked the genesis of this unique quilling art venture.

The brand's ethos, rooted in the Sanskrit meaning of "Sarala" – simple, ingenious and effortless - is evident in its transformation of paper into elaborate art, advocating conservation. Using exclusively recycled paper strips, and applying a policy of “zero waste” the artform allows for a blend of creative expression and sustainability.

Influenced by the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Trinidad and Tobago and her personal experiences, each piece embodies local, nature-inspired, and cultural themes.

Paper quilling, or paper filigree, is a delicate and exquisite art form that involves rolling, shaping, and adhering strips of paper to create intricate designs. This ancient craft has captivated both artists and hobbyists, turning simple paper strips into masterpieces.

Our Process:

1. Initial Consultation
2. Hand Sketching
3. Colour matching
4. Rolling: Thin paper strips are tightly coiled using a quilling tool.
   
5. Shaping: These coils are then molded, pinched, and curved into various shapes such as circles, teardrops, and scrolls.
   
6. Assembly: The shaped coils are meticulously arranged and affixed to a surface to craft stunning patterns and designs.
